ANCA Eastern Region activists participate in more than 50 August recess meetings WATERTOWN, MA — ANCA Eastern Region activists and allies from across the country met with more than 50 members of Congress from both the House and Senate during the August recess, sounding the alarm on Azerbaijan’s genocidal blockade of Artsakh, which has gone on for more than 270 days. Each year, during the August recess, senators and representatives return home to their respective states to visit with constituents in their districts, attend various community functions and tend to matters of their constituencies. ANC of Rhode Island Secures Friendship City Establishment Between North Providence, Rhode Island and Jardar, Artsakh NORTH PROVIDENCE, RI – For the second time this summer, the Armenian National Committee (ANC) of Rhode Island secured a Friendship City between North Providence, Rhode Island, and the village of Jardar, Republic of Artsakh. The North Providence Town Council issued the proclamation establishing the Friendship City with the goal of raising awareness of Artsakh – its people’s right to self-determination and the ability to live freely and not under the abhorrent genocidal regime of Azerbaijan. ANC of Rhode Island Secures Third Friendship City This Year Between Smithfield, RI and Stepanakert, Republic of Artsakh SMITHFIELD, R.I. – The Armenian National Committee of Rhode Island (ANC-RI) welcomed the establishment of its third Friendship City this year between Smithfield and Stepanakert, the capital of Artsakh. The Friendship City was established at a Smithfield, Rhode Island Town Council meeting on Tuesday, August 8. ANC of Albany Secures Friendship City Between Troy, New York and Martakert, Republic of Artsakh Troy, NY – The ANC of Albany secured a Friendship City between Troy, New York, and the village of Martakert, Republic of Artsakh earlier this month. ANC of Albany Co-Chair Antranig Karageozian thanked the City Council and Mayor of Troy at the City Council meeting where the resolution was voted upon. The establishment of a Friendship City between Troy and Martakert comes on the heels of the 220th day of the genocidal blockade that Azerbaijan has imposed upon Artsakh. This Friendship City is just one of many initiatives of the ANC of Rhode Island, which has engaged federal, state and city governments to advance the Armenian Cause for decades.
